Of course, the person in this boat on Ha Long Bay is far from alone, which means I’m very much faking this weeks PhotoFriday challenge, “Solitude.” But he looks alone and the landscape is empty and beautiful so I think it fits the bill!

This is about as “Near” — this weeks PhotoFriday theme — as I really want to get to a crocodile. Or alligator. Which ever this one is. It was in a farm, behind a fence, in Vietnam but still looked like a formidable creature.

This weeks PhotoFriday was a tricky one for a couple of reasons. Firstly I don’t have very many pictures of “Children” or even anything child-like. Secondly, most of the pictures that I do have I wouldn’t want to use. Thirdly, most of those that didn’t fall into the previous two categories I’ve already used for previous challenges!

In the end I settled on this image I took in southern Vietnam. I got the impression that they don’t get a huge number of tourists around there. They were very curious of us but also very nervous and wouldn’t come much closer than what you see in the picture.

According to my dictionary, “Disorder,” this weeks PhotoFriday theme, means “the disruption of peaceful and law-abiding behaviour.” This image of central Hanoi in Vietnam shows locals on scooters blaring their horns (lack of peace) and zipping all over the road in a display that should be illegal even if it isn’t. There were certainly worse displays of disorder and chaos on Vietnamese roads but I value my life!

Here is my rather delayed entry for this weeks PhotoFriday, “Relationship.” It’s the second picture I took in Vietnam, a couple overlooking the lake at the centre of Hanoi. Any resemblance to this entry least year is entirely coincidental.

I like this picture of a local child I took in Hoi An, Vietnam. Obviously a little nervous, approaching me with some trepidation, but happy and smiling. I think this mixture of emotions works for this weeks PhotoFriday challenge.

This picture is for my wife. In fact, I’ve no idea what kind of snake this is, or whether it’s dangerous or not, but people are often scared of them. This image was taken in Vietnam.

This image was taken in My Son, Vietnam. It is an amazing sight, kind of like Ankor Wat but on a much smaller scale. What we didn’t have was the weather. I got drenched and my camera seized up shortly after I took this picture.

This weeks PhotoFriday theme is “Purity.” Here is my entry. It was taken at a Cao Dai ceremony in Tay Ninh, Vietnam. These ceremonies and white cloaks suggest a type of purity.
