The clue is in the name. Rather than a significant break from the past, the Switch 2 is an iteration. Bigger. Faster. Better. But not a revolution.

That’s not a bad thing. Why break with a successful formula?

I’m not a big gamer. In fact, the Switch is the first console I’ve bought. Let’s take a quick tour of the original, eight year old Switch and see what it got right and wrong.

This was all set to be a story of how much the whole family were enjoying the Nintendo Switch¹. While that’s true, there’s another side. We’ll get to that but let’s start with the good stuff.

Long story short: after just over a week, we’re all getting a lot out of it. The games are fun, even my three year old gets a kick driving Princess Peach around what looks like Sugar Rush from Wreck-It Ralph.

• Urbanized – After Helvetica and Objectified, Gary Hustwit’s next documentary is about the design of cities. “Urbanized looks at the issues and strategies behind urban design, featuring some of the world’s foremost architects, planners, policymakers, builders, and thinkers.” Can’t wait.
• 8-Bit Cities – This is awesome: maps of cities in the style of 1980’s video games.
• iPhone 4 – Case Program – I’ve not had any reception problems with mine but I’m not one to pass up free stuff…
